Geology GCSE can be done as a private candidate but you must make sure that you have a centre that is willing to sign to say that coursework has been completed.

The amount of coursework must total two days and you will need to provide evidence of completion. This could include written project work, a photographic record or an interview with staff at the examination centre. You will need to negotiate with the exam centre before you start so that you know what evidence you will need to provide and the costs associated with the signing off.

This exam consists of two papers, one of which is a computer based assessment. If your centre does not have computer facilities then this component can also be taken as a paper based assessment.

Paper 1

Geological Principles - on screen assessment

Paper 2

Investigative Geology - wholly based based on a geological map
